Nelson-Studios.net is programmed for the newest web browsers, particularly Mozilla Firefox 2.0. Certain parts of the site (like pictures) won't show up correctly in older browsers such as Internet Explorer 6.
I strongly recommend you download and install Mozilla Firefox 2.0, it is such a great browser with so many more features than Internet Explorer. However, if you insist on using Internet Explorer, upgrade to version 7.
Edit:
Apparently MSN Explorer runs off Internet Explorer, so upgrading IE will also upgrade MSNE.
Edit:
Anything using the latest Gecko rendering engine should display correctly. |

What makes some of the pages not display right? I always thought that phpBB was made for all web browsers!
But then again, Firefox would be a nice additive to your computer. |

I'm mainly talking about the main site, but the logo in the forum header won't show up right because IE doesn't render PNGs correctly (7 still has problems, but at least it supports transparency ). |

I noticed that the first time. You need to upgrade MSN by upgrading IE. It is a vital update to your computer (unless you use the superior browser, Firefox). IE 6 is VERY insecure, almost all viruses are made for it, since Microsoft illegally manipulated the market to make IE pretty much the only browser used. Also, it hasn't been updated for 5 years, so IE 6 is way far behind on web technology. |

I swear I already posted on this. IE6 has been updated. When you upgrade XP from no service pack to SP1, it gave you a firewall, which as all things are, is a part of IE, and IE is part of it. SP2 gave IE6 a pop-up blocker. IE7 gave IE tabbed browsing, and a, uhm, anti-phishing tool that is about half as good as firefox's. Check out CNET, as I think they have an article comparing IE7 and FF2. If you want to have better security, more features, and MORE!!!!!!, download FF2 from www.mozilla.com
Oh, you forgot Opera as a browser for the poll. Oh well, they can click 'other'.
(www.opera.com), 9.2 is latest, as of NOW. I think...?? |

Ok, I guess IE has been updated more recently than 5 years, sorry for the mistake. Still, those updates were very minor and my case still stands.
Oh, yeah, Opera. I forgot about that one. Apparently Opera is available for the Nintendo DS (in Japan) and the Wii. From what I've heard, it's a pretty decent browser. They were the first to add tabs to a browser, as well as some other cool features that Firefox has implemented. |

As another side note, you can also download SeaMonkey from www.mozilla.org
SeaMonkey is an application suite that includes a browser and an email client (and more). It doesn't seem to have a problem with displaying transparencies. To download Mozilla Firefox 2, go to www.mozilla.com
I have updated the poll. Who invented all of these browsers anyway? |

K4, Re: SeaMonkey wrote: | It doesn't seem to have a problem with displaying transparencies. |
That's because SeaMonkey uses the same rendering engine as Firefox (it's called Gecko). Internet Explorer uses it's own rendering engine, called Trident, which is available to use in other applications. The Avant browser uses Trident, so does WiMP, McAffe security, MSN Explorer, AOL Explorer, and several other programs. Isn't it extremely ironic/scary/disturbing that a program that is supposed to keep your computer safe uses one of the most insecure programs in the world?
K4 wrote: | Who invented all of these browsers anyway? |
Well, Firefox, SeaMonkey and Mozilla all branched from Netscape, which was pretty much started by Marc Andreessen.
Internet Explorer (and MSN, AOL, and Avant) were developed from Spyglass Mosaic, which evolved from NSCA Mosaic, which was invented by Marc Andreessen and Eric Bina.
Opera was started by Telenor in Norway.
So Marc Andreessen basically invented "all of these browsers," except Opera.
Thanks for updating the poll! |

Your saturday needs an upgrade to the latest version of Firefox.
By the way, C.N., how many wikipedia articles have you read on this? Anyway, thanks for the answers. When is Firefox 3 coming out? I'm getting board of Firefox 2!
Oh, I think I originally put down Navigator as part of the Mozilla Suite instead of Sea Monkey, so thanks to whoever fixed my SDRAM holes. |

YES. See, I'm not the only one that knows that you should download Firefox. I guarantee it won't mess up your computer- It will work on virtually any operating system, and it's a very small download. Continuing to use MSN Explorer will mess up your computer.

...More than is probably good for me. I'm a bit obsessed with browsers lately, lol.
FX 3 is supposed to be released this November, according to Wikipedia. I can't wait, it sounds like it will be great.
I haven't heard about K-Meleon, what's it like? Is it worth downloading? |

K-Meleon is for people that want to tweak their browsers to the max. Personally, I collect browsers, and so I downloaded it. |
